Strong Nature Lives Keep You
A series of cold waves has been covering wide areas. Almost every day, the lowest temperature is around -6℃ (23F) and the highest 10℃ (50F). These are pictures of wheat fields. Farmers finished sowing in the beginning of November. There is no rain for 3 weeks. Young wheat roots get moisture at the quite shallow underground. During December and February, a tractor is going to pull the roller over the field two or three times. The stamped wheat can promote tillering and their roots become more stable against the push-up by frost columns. No matter how cold or dry it is, every leaf keeps green always. The first day of spring is 4th February.
植物生命力極強.
ReplyDeleteminus 6 degs for me is rather cold, and even 10 deg during the day is too. Sometimes in our winter it is not often we get 10 deg, usually it's a bit more.
ReplyDeleteThe crops look good and hoping it grows well.
Stay warm!
ReplyDelete春天的腳步聲愈來愈近了,希望天氣稍為回暖,讓春雨滋潤麥苗!
ReplyDeleteLovely
ReplyDeleteIt's very hot around here, 40° (this is not common). Planet Earth is warning us to take care of the Planet.
ReplyDeleteHello RTC, I hope the cold will not hurt the crops. I don't know the average weather where you are, but in Ohio one cannot even think of sowing any crops from November until March at the earliest.

Hi Jim, thanks for your reading. I just revised and added some information.
DeleteHello again, I love reading about agriculture--you probably know by know that studying fruit growing is one of my favorite pastimes. In Ohio, away from the cities are many small farms, so taking a drive on rural roads reveals the crops in their various stages or growth. Even in winter you can see the bare trees and the old farm buildings such as barns and silos against the snow or barren fields.

Lovely green.
ReplyDeleteThat's some hearty wheat!
ReplyDeleteHere in the states, we are getting rain and snow in different areas. California is Ok right now, but many are having winter storms. I wish we could give you some of our rain. : )
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely seeing this green and new life when it is so cold and snowy here!
ReplyDeleteThe first day of spring is in February --wow! You're lucky RTC. It's a pleasure to see green wheat.
ReplyDeleteLooking good to see what is growing and hopefully it all goes well. Where we live, we finally got more rain and no ice except water that's in the bird bath to drink. It gets cut a bit so the ice to make sure the birds will be able to drink water. Spring doesn't start until March here in USA. Have a good time and be safe and healthy!!
ReplyDelete太美了
ReplyDeleteStay warm.
ReplyDeleteNice photographs of the crops, I hope all goes well.
ReplyDeleteStay warm and safe.
All the best Jan
看到你這些照片,加上今年的旅遊有所反思,本年度都想嘗試開墾多一點農地來耕種。不過不知道春天這忙碌季節是否應付得來😅
