Rice Harvest

After two weeks, rice will be reaped.

This time I just studied its yield.

It is reported that a 10 are (10a) rice field produces 530 kg brown rice. That is to say we can get 530g grains per square meter. 

People usually eat white (polished) rice. After polishing, 530g brown rice becomes 480g white one. 

When you eat a rice meal in a Japanese restaurant, 150g rice, boiled of course,  is served in a bowl.  Dry rice increases its quantity by 2.3 times after boiling. This means a bowl of rice needs 65g polished one.

Using 480g polished rice produced in a１㎡ field, we can get 7.4 bowls of rice.

When rice plants grow a grain in the ear, the best temperature is around 25℃. The bigger gap between the highest and lowest temperature in one day makes the more delicious rice.

Nowadays some areas having been famous for producing good rice in this country are suffering from unsatisfactory quality caused by abnormally hot weather.

The average temperature this summer was 4 to 5℃ surprisingly higher than usual.
