I took a walk along the stream. The temperature was 12℃ or 54°F. It's very warm. I found a grey heron standing in the stream, took two pictures in a hurry by my smartphone.

This is the second one. The heron had already started walking. Then I tried the third but it flied away. For herons, I was an intruder to disturb their meals. People visit this park walking a long wooden path along the stream. Fishing is prohibited. Birds can get more and bigger fishes here with irritation. Or they may be used to this artificial environment with less irritation.

Water ripples....
I hope they don't get infected with bird flu.
Great captures, both of theheron and of the watter ripples! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful bird, Crane! Thanks for sharing these photos with us today.
ReplyDelete蒼鷺在香港很常見.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds! We have bird flu here too. It's quite a worry.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of this sunny walk!
Great shots, especially the second one. A beautiful and majestic bird!
ReplyDelete可愛的小蒼鷺,有魚的水域才能吸引牠們到來棲息 🦅
ReplyDeleteAround here, bird flu has been over for a while. Now there is equine encephalomyelitis that affects horses. If a mosquito bites a sick horse and then transmits the disease to a person.
ReplyDeleteCheers and enjoy nature.
A wonderful observation!
ReplyDeleteDearest RTC,
ReplyDeleteGreat images of this grey heron.
They sure are a majestic bird!
Hugs,
Mariette
These are such magnificent birds. It looks like a haven for them.
ReplyDeleteHello rtc, What a beautiful natural area, and it is always exciting to see wildlife stirring. With the stream (or is it a pond?) and the trees, it looks like a perfect place for a nature hike.

天氣溫暖,蒼鷺也出來曬太陽🌞
ReplyDeletePretty photos
ReplyDeleteWonderful heron there
ReplyDeleteNice grey heron to view via your blog post. Of course most birds don't stay around when one is taking photos as we are too close. I remember taking photos of birds when we had some ice and a bit of snow in January, I stayed quiet once I got the door step and took some photos of small and big birds getting bird suet. Some were on the fence and I could see the snow on it as well. I did use my camera that has a digital zoom on it that does good photo or two. Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe photos came out well.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see this Grey Heron.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
When spring arrives and it warms up, the herons will come back to Calgary. Here they are Blue Herons. Your photos of the Grey Heron are very nice, I like the reflections in the water.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, RTC. Sure you're lucky to take photos of Grey Heron.
ReplyDeleteI've seen the Blue Heron on friends' blogs, but never the Grey Heron. I don't see this bird where I live in the mountains. It looks like such a peaceful walk you had. The stream looks calm. Thanks for sharing a little bit of nature in your area.
