I took a walk to find some spring flowers, wearing a woolen hat, a mask and a down jacket.
Canola flowers have bloomed already. It's very rare to see them in mid Jan.I found out the name of this plant. It's Calendula arvensis, or field marigold also called unwitting winter.

This was my lunch. Beef tongue on the white plate, oxtail soup. Grated yam is in the right upper bowl. Rice is mixed with rolled barley, which is good for health.
Stay healthy and happy, my friends.

Wonderful lunch, RTC. I do love oxtail soup. I've never eaten rice mixed with wheat.
ReplyDeleteYellow is my favorite color when it comes to flowers. Good idea to mix rice with wheat! I don't find rice alone tasty.
ReplyDeleteThe mixed is rolled barley, not wheat. Sorry for my mistake.
Delete
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers and a delicious lunch -- what a good day!
ReplyDeleteHello rtc, What beautiful flowers you have found. I should get more off the beaten path here to look for some unusual ones. I'll bet there are some nice plants in the park near the Danshui River, but I have to get there while it is still light out!

Reading your comment, I just remembered
DeleteLovely spring flowers. A delicious lunch.
ReplyDeleteDearest RTC,
ReplyDeleteLovely images of the forebodes of spring.
Wish I could tell you what those tiny yellow flowers with velvety leaves are.
Lunch looks great.
Hugs,
Mariette
Beautiful touches of color to brighten these winter days.
ReplyDeleteInteresting meal - could you mix the rice with bulgar? I made tabbouleh a few days ago so have some bulgar remaining.
Mary -
Bulgur wheat is perched and crushed. I ate rice mixed with flat rolled barley. Rice mixed with bulgur will have another texture.
DeleteLoved the photos, Crane!
ReplyDeleteYummy
ReplyDeleteI think that's a field marigold in your second photo. You inspire me. I really should get out into nature soon. Your lunch looks delicious
ReplyDeleteOx Tongue bento set is a lovely meal
ReplyDeleteNice flowers. I've never eaten a beef tongue! I remembered to pull out the flowers that I put in the garage before the freezing storm we had a week ago. Good to see the flowers look better outdoors now with it raining lately. Have a good week, RTC!
ReplyDeleteInteresting flowers.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't eat that Ox Tongue but I do hope you enjoyed it as I'm sure you would.
Take care.
It's cold and icy here so seeing these bursts of early spring is a special joy. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing these flowers.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you enjoyed your lunch.
My good wishes.
All the best Jan
It sounds so odd to be wearing a woollen hat and down jacket and then see yellow spring flowers! I would expect to be out in snow when wearing a hat and jacket like that! Those flowers looks so pretty and that lunch looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteFlowers already! Oh, what a delight that must be. It's still so cold here and rainy. Your meal is so planned out and looks healthy. My dad used to make us try everything when I was growing up. One of them was tongue. It wasn't my favorite thing to eat, but at least I can say that I ate tongue!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend. And thank you for the Spring flowers. I needed that today. : )
