Happy New Year!
I wish you good health and happiness.
This is a set of new year sake (liquor) utensils.
A set of three sake cups is a traditional lacquer ware.
New Year's sake is spiced with medical herbs.
These are traditional new year cuisines.
The left red bowl contains steamed shrimp dumpling. The right plate contains special cuisines such as sweet simmered black beans, seaweed rolls, mashed sweet potato with sweet chestnuts, sliced burdock root, sweet rolled omelet with fish paste, sweet small sardines, boiled fish paste, pickled white radish and carrot.
A pair of new year chopsticks is made of willow.
Happy New Year, rtc! You really went all out to prepare the traditional celebration materials. All the dishes look so tasty--last night I was too tired to cook so just had boiled noodles for dinner, and I imagine I will have the same thing today.

ReplyDeleteDearest RTC,
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and yours.
When I was in Japan I firsthand got to admire all the meticulous details in presentation and food preparation.
My hosts, a Buddhist monk and his family, took me to a very special restaurant with authentic Japanese food. So I got to taste whale as one of the different things. Luckily I am quite good at eating with chopsticks, so I felt like a fish in the water.
It is a true art for feeding body and soul by the right presentation!
Hugs,
Mariette
I was very interested in your New year traditions, RTC. I used to think that sake cups are like glass shallow cups. You showed very nice sake set. The traditional food is excellent.

But are they food safe?

Feliz Ano Novo!
Ana
