Finding Signs of Spring in a Leap Year 閏年探春

Plum blossoms are in full bloom under the blue sky. The small blossoms do not hesitate coldness.
Plums were brought from China more than 1300 years ago. In those days, poets were affected by Chinese sense of beauty and made more poems of plum than cherry.
This is a young cabbage plant. The soil is still dry as it does not rain much in this season.

Is this type of vinyl hothouse for spinach popular in your area?

 Cherry buds are still sleeping.

 Good fragrance.
I was surprised to find this winter cherry for the first time in my city. Reddish blossoms have opened.
A house on the northside protects this cherry against cold north winds.
Purple henbit tells me the approach of spring every year. 日復一日 年復一年 周而復始

Shepherd's purse has lots of small flowers. This plant was treated edible in ancient times.

Lines of young wheat are talking together about coming of warm days.

  2. Hello rtc, So many wonderful harbingers of spring you have discovered! In Ohio I used to love to roam the spring woods looking for all the rare plants that bloom them. Of course, late February-early March is still winter in Ohio!

  6. Dearest RTC,
What a wonderful spring poetry by photos!
Yes, a leap year but things certainly look good in your area.
The cabbage plant would have loved some of the excessive rain we got the last couple of weeks! Our soil cannot handle much as it has a very poor waterholding capacity... It runs off easily.
No, in our area you won't find any spinach growing and no vinyl hothouses either.
    Probably elsewhere.
Love the highly fragrant daffodils, the can fill up a room with their beauty and fragrance.
Sure, that cherry tree loves the buffer from the cold north wind, a house functions well for that.
The purple henbit is obviously a good measure for spring time!
The young wheat looks very lush and healthy in the field and I saw also vinyl greenhouses in the back...
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  7. It's a pleasure to see first signs of spring in Japan. The reddish flowers of a cherry tree is typical Japan vernal picture, isn't it?
Lovely small sprouts of wheat, good harvest.
    Have a nice new week!

  10. These are beautiful. The blooms will be something that I won't see here till May so they are very welcome on a snowy day. The wonderful hothouses remind me of my visit to Japan and visiting our friend's, who had a strawberry farm.

  13. Yes, We Also Have Cloth Hoops Here - They Also Double As Shade - By Any Chance, Is This Early Spring Bloom?? Unfortunately We Are Also In A Pattern Over The Years Of Blossoms On Our Apricot And Wine Grape Vines - Sometime In March We Will Have A Deep Freeze Move Through - Its A Bummer And Becoming A Real Problem - I Feel For Those Poor Farmers - I Really Do

    Excellent Photos!!
    Cheers
