Ueno Zoo revisited. This was really unexpected great fun for me. Hi monkeys, is there anyone who is acrophobia?
He sits on a chair of a weighing machine. He weighs 10.8kg. No need for diet?
He is a white gibbon. White hands look elegant shown off by his black fur. I couldn't help thinking his appearance is a magician.
This is the oldest fish hook in the world excavated in a cave in Okinawa, exhibited at the nature and science museum near to the zoo. It was made 23 thousand years ago, processed the bottom of a snail. A researcher said when this hook is pulled by a rod in the sea, it vibrates and gets pearly shining which is quite attractive to fishes. Ancient persons are clever.
That's a good way to weigh the monkeys.
ReplyDeleteInteresting to see the oldest fish hook, thanks for the information.
Happy June
All the best Jan
23,000 years ago? That is an amazing invention! Do we have anything like it today?
ReplyDeleteWhat a handsome fellow with his white hands and black fur. And an interesting fish hook that has so much history...wow, it goes back 23 thousand years, oh my.

Hello rtc, The fishhook is very interesting. It is amazing how well some ancient tools still work, such as stone knives, etc. when we try them out. I have a few American Indian found stone tools that I have put back into use!

Stunning hook and beautiful photos! Oh, I love monkeys! Kisses, my friend.

Wow !! That's a beautiful place to visit !!
ReplyDeleteHave a happy new week !
The white gibbon is very handsome. I don't think I ever saw one before. I never got to Ueno zoo but I hope I get there one day! I often marvel at how ancient people did so many clever things with hardly any tools and materials.
ReplyDeleteI love a zoo and these are wonderful photos. That fish hook is really remarkable.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks so much for coming by Marmelade Gypsy and leaving such a nice comment!
Hehehe, the monkey on the scale made me chuckle. He still has his girlish figure and can afford that extra banana. And that fish hook looks like a work of art! I'd like to look that good when I'm 23 thousand years old.
ReplyDeleteCute monkeys - the black and white one does remind one of a magician! It's amazing to think of humans living 23,000 years ago, when Mastadons and Saber-tooth tigers roamed the earth. Their intelligence and ingenuity in creating the hook is the reason why mankind survived!
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever way to weigh the monkeys.
