The holy tree 神聖樹

This giant cedar is in the silent precinct of the Shinto shrine named Ikiko Jinja. It is believed that a god comes down on this holy tree. Many people come to this shrine to pray the god to guard their children. The rope with special paper shows that trees and rocks tied with it are holy objects.
這棵杉木又大又高。保護孩子的神降臨到這棵樹上。神社稱為生子神社。

  5. Hi Glennis
Ancient people thought that gods came down on the tall tree or the big rock on a mountain. Such holy objects were tied with the special rope to distinguish them from others.

  6. Hi Esta
Yes! I have visited Haguro-san and saw many big and tall trees around the five storied pagoda. I have also climbed Mt. Gassan. I stayed at the hotel in Takenokozawa-onsen. It's a really nice trip.
