I just went to check whether they opened or not. For about ten days, the temperature is very low. It fell to -7.1 C degrees or 19.2 F this morning.
To my surprise, they did bloom already. This tree is one of the first one to bloom in my city.
I don't know the name of this prunus mume . The petals are yellowish white. It's quite difficult for me to take a picture close-up in the wind by the smartphone. I tried for a while and got this one.
Dearest RTC, That is early for those plum blossoms to appear and especially after such a cold spell. We have several Japanese magnolia blossoms almost open and then we got frost at night –2°C so we sure hope they don't turn brown! It is such a joy each year to look forward to the beginning of spring blossoms! Hugs, Mariette
Hello rtc, Such lavish displays of blossoms are a miracle of nature! In Ohio, I used to hike around the woods in early spring looking for such flowers, when they are so conspicuous. Not only are they beautiful in themselves, but they also tell you where to look later for the fruit! --Jim
Oh, I love the blossoming trees. No flowering trees here yet, as we are still getting snow. But I enjoy seeing the ones you share with us on your blog every Spring. They're sooooo pretty in your area.
