Rice farmers reap rice in September and October by machine. Sometimes the temperature rises over 30℃, their clothes are soaking wet with sweat.
I have heard that the most difficult skill of rice growing is to control proper water depth and temperature.
The grains of japonica rice are rounder than indica.
Wishing everyone a wonderful harvest!
ReplyDeleteMy sister in law used to pick rice with the native Americans here in Minnesota, she loved it, sadly she is no longer with us.

Lovely photos and interesting captions! Being a city dweller, I'm always attracted to agricultural matters that deal with our basic foods (rice), clothes (cotton), and all the rest.
ReplyDeleteI am embarrassed to say that this is the first time I see a rice field, but I say it anyway. : )

It is such an important staple of food for the biggest part in the world!
Japonica rice indeed is very full and rounded.
Thanks for showing such excellent and educative photos; the temperature here is about the same and hot enough to still sweat!
Hugs,
Mariette
