Summer Solstice

One month passed after mandarin oranges bloomed. It's the summer solstice today.
"O blithe New-comer! I have heard,
I hear thee and rejoice."
-To the cuckoo by William Wordsworth-
Cuckoos come to Japan in early spring while they come to Britain in spring.
I am looking forward to hearing their songs every summer.
Half a year has passed. We have noticed the normal days are special.
Thank you for coming to read my posts.
I wish you good health and safety.

  1. It is a really beautiful flower. does it smell wonderful? I have several citrus trees growing here in a flowerpot. Annoying when they are not yet making flowers. I had orange trees a long time ago that made lovely little white flowers.

  2. Hello rtc, Your message of the summer solstice has reminded me that I really wanted to be in Ohio by this time, but because of covid it was not meant to be. I love the long summer days and temperate summer weather in slightly more northern latitudes--I think it is one of the greatest luxuries.

  4. Dearest RTC,
Lovely mandarin blossom photos. Do you have to shelter them in winter time, like we have to for all our citrus here in the heart of Georgia?
Wishing you a good summer, full of harvest for fruits and vegetables.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  7. The mandarin orange blossoms are pretty. I'm not familiar with the Cuckoos. I will look them up right now. I am wishing you good July days coming up. It's been very warm here, and reading pleasant posts suits me right now. : )

  9. Those are pretty flowers from the mandarins. I have rarely see them grow. Here in England the cuckoo is becoming scarcer, I hope its numbers will increase and that these interesting birds are thriving in Japn. Thank you for this post. Please stay safe and enjoy your summer!

  10. Happy summer solstice to you. Your orange plants are flowering even as a small plant. Must be exciting to see the blooms.

Em muitos perfumes que uso, a flor de laranjeira, é um dos seus componentes!
    Gostei imenso das imagens!
