BONSAI 盆景

When you visit some places in this country, you will see Bonsai trees. I don't know how old this pine is. I have heard a Bonsai planter said that it takes at least 10 years to grow a tree in a Bonsai style. Imperial Household Agency has kept a famous pine Bonsai tree of which age is 500 years.
These are young maple trees planted in a 20 cm pot. This style is called small Bonsai, which you can put on a table to enjoy its youthfulness. In summer time, green maple leaves bring  you coolness.

  1. Hello rtc, What wonderful Bonsai these are. They sell Bonsai at the Taipei Flower Market--I will look to see if they have a maple, because I sure could use a little coolness right now!

  3. There are some superstitions regarding bonsai and cactus plants, so although I love them for their beauty, I don't keep them at my house.

  4. Dearest RTC,
Bonsai sure is quite an art, of actually pestering a tree ongoing so it continues to produce but staying miniature. Husband Pieter observed many while in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, he was too briefly in Japan...
Hugs and enjoy your summer with all its wonders!
The 2nd Proofs are done by now and only the front matter needs to get added.
So relieved for having done this complex scientific writing, with still very easy to understand explanations for the mushroom growers to understand how and above all, WHY certain things need to be done.
That was always my Pieter's greatest strength in teaching in a most understandable way. Now his intellect will be preserved and a nice update on his previous books. Some 433 pages of wisdom...

  8. Bonsai's are just wonderful, the work and love that goes into growing, shaping and care for them is time consuming. Have a son who does Bonsai sometimes.

  16. I used to have a neighbor who enjoyed Bonsai trees. They have always fascinated me. I'd love to have one but my cat would eat it.
