Holy dance

This is "Kagura", a holy dance played in a Shinto shrine.  The stories of Kagura are based on ancient myths collected about 1200 years ago. People in villages hold Kagura in spring to pray for good growth of  grain.

  3. Hi Dr. John
Ancient people in the world waited for the arrival of spring with a great expectation and prayed for abundant achievement in agriculture and hunting. It is said that Easter contains a part of this religious mind. Very interesting!

I am very much interested in folklore.
You will find out the similarity between Shinto ceremonies and the traditional customs in Hawaii (Polynesia). You may know the Hawaiian reduplication. Many of them have a similar meaning to the Japanese reduplication. Such as 'suisui''peropero''perapera' in the Japanese language have the SAME pronunciation and meaning in the Hawaiian language. It can be said that thousands years ago there was a communication across the ocean.

  7. Hey there! thanks for visiting ; )

Easter was originally a pagan festival to celebrate the coming of new life, hence the eggs and rabbits....the christians used the dates of the old festivals for their new ceremonies...all the same in the end, jesus coming back to life on easter sunday, as we all do after hiding away for winter.
